SCOPE for the Tribal Students of Navsari

District SCOPE-
Society for Creation of Opportunity through Proficiency in English is an initiative of Government of Gujarat to cultivate and enhance the English Language proficiency of youth and working professionals and thereby to provide adequate employment opportunities for the youth of Gujarat; Cambridge ESOL, UK as their assessment partner. The Program has adopted the Common European Framework (The ALTE framework) which takes a student through 6 levels, starting at A1 level for beginners to C2 for the most advanced speakers of English. The course covers the learning areas of listening, speaking, reading and grammar.
As a Model Project, SCOPE Training was offered to nearly 400 tribal students of Navsari District, at various clusters like Vansda, Bartad, Bilimora and Chikhli; which were directly monitored by the Collector, Ms. Remya Mohan IAS, with the support of Tribal Sub plan, Tribal Development, Vansda. As an outcome, majority of the students have cleared the Cambridge Online Examination and secured a substantial confidence in using Communicative English Language. The One hour SCOPE valedictory function, which was organized at Aadarsha Nivasi Shala, Chikli, was fully presented and anchored by the participants, practically proved the acquired knowledge level and confidence to handle the language. Even though the SCOPE entrance test qualified them for the preliminary level-A1, many of the students secured A2 level Certification in the Cambridge Online examination and interestingly one of them has cleared the B1 level certification.
It is heartening to record from the school authorities that many of the students have started using English in their daily life and a drastic overall improvement is observed in their final examination, academics and behaviour.

This is Not an end……………….
………………..but a great beginning.
