Appeal to promote Nagli Biscuits of navsari

As public are becoming more health conscious, food habits of our forefathers are again becoming fashionable.
Nagli biscuits are a much healthier alternative to fat rich cookies and biscuits.

Self Help Groups of the rural development department and Van Mandlis of the forest department in navsari make them and Disteict Administration has taken up the cudgels to promote the product as well as to enable the women to add value to the product in terms of packaging and optimisation of nutritional value.

An input was also received from Gandevi Taluka Primary Education Officer and others in education department during shala praveshotsav  that as Mid Day Meal is served at noon,by 4 p.m children get hungry and there is a need to include a nutritious snack in the evening.

A decision has been taken to introduce nagli biscuit phasewise in navsari schools for this purpose.

The response to the biscuits distributed during shala pravesotsav was very positive.Children just loved it.It combines nutrition with taste.

Education department officials opined that children tend to go hungry or buy cheap junk food from the market to satiate their hunger in the evenings as school runs till 5 p.m

Nagli Biscuit Project gives benefit to the nagli farmer in terms of growing demand, many of whom are moving away from growing the crop due to low demand.Self Help Groups making the biscuit are also benefited. The end consumer benefits due to nutritional value.
It is a WIN-WIN formula where all stakeholdera end up winning.
In navsari,we have taken the first step and plan to rejuvenate the demand for the crop through the Nagli Biscuit Project.

Shala Praveshotsav 2015,Navsari

Bringing in a major change this time, the Gujarat education department has decided to focus on the ‘lowest grade’ schools along with maximum dropout rates during the six-day state-wide annual enrolment drive — Praveshotsav and Kanya Kelavani. The drive is scheduled in two phases — June 11, 12 and 13 for rural areas followed by June 18, 19 and 20 for schools in urban areas.
This year, the department has planned to restrict the freedom from the senior most officials and ministers to choose the talukas or districts to be visited during this drive on their own. Linking the annual evaluation exercise, Gunotsav, of all government schools with the enrolment drive — Praveshotsav and Kanya Kelavani, the department has listed out the lowest grade schools (grade C and D) rated under Gunotsav which would be assigned to the senior most ministers and officials, irrespective of the department or area they are posted in.
